[Photo Cred: Leo Margan] – For many, music is a cathartic experience, a vehicle for personal expression. The feeling of opening up to the outside world through lyrics and chords is unmatched, especially when one’s young and confused. For Cradle P. Lavender, music has always been a sort of best-kept secret, until earlier this month, when he finally published his first EP. Based in Wisconsin, the young singer-songwriter has been writing on his own since high school, always afraid to showcase his artistry publicly.

Nothing wrong with that: sharing one’s art takes guts, takes courage. Furthermore, making available your vulnerabilities and dreams to third-party scrutiny is quite scary, and frankly, it’s something that a lot of people struggle with on a daily basis. Cradle P. Lavender decided his time was up, and  – now in university –  he’s looking to be more authentic and truthful to himself, in order to connect with his inner identity.

‘Sunburn’ is the latest EP from the Milwaukee resident. A collection of songs written a long time ago, but somehow still relevant. It is a solo effort: the record features a haunting, dark acoustic guitar and the artist’s soothing, mellow vocals, driving the listeners into an intimate and passionate journey into his artistic universe.

Perhaps not the most perfect record we have ever heard, but for sure one of the most authentic. Grab a slice of heartfelt lyricism, discover Cradle P. Lavender now.
