The Trouble Notes Mix Things Up on ‘The Banjolorian’

Jeremy Bregman

‘The Banjolorian’ is the brand new single from the Berlin-based act that I’d imagine needs no introduction to quite a few. The Trouble Notes have been on the scene since first releasing their debut EP ‘Grand Masquerade’ back in 2017, and have gained a huge and passionate worldwide fanbase ever since. ‘The Banjolorian’ is an incredible, hypnotising fusion of traditional folk, bluegrass rhythms, and hip-hop grooves. Sound familiar? I didn’t think so! The group have become well known for its eclectic and unique sound, and ‘The Banjolorian’ serves as the perfect example of just what they’re all about!

“Growing up in the midwest of America, I was exposed to a wide range of musical influences,” says violinist Bennet Cerven. “‘Banjolorian’ is a nod to those formative years of my life”. While the tune may appear to be a playful and even “casual” one on the surface, ‘Banjolorian’ showcases a deep appreciation and reverence for the traditions of the genres it represents.

If you’ve already guessed that I’d be giving you the old “It’s a track I ordinarily would not be exposed to” spiel, then congrats to you! It’s the truth though! It’s going straight onto the playlist! Big up The Trouble Notes!
