Perhaps it’s her intricate, inspired lyricism, exploring human nature and the challenges around it. Or better, her kaleidoscopic pool of music influences, always manifesting in ethereal, groovy and edgy pieces. What we know for sure, is that Allie takes art seriously. Careful, we don’t mean that in a boring, or scholarly way. Instead, we recognise the careful thought process behind her artistic output. She doesn’t just write songs. She conceptualizes them first, she finds them a meaning, which is then reversed on paper and over music.
We came across the project earlier this year, with Allie’s previous single ‘ROCKET ME HIGH’. Now, the London resident returns with an even more complex, pensive and profound offering, ‘SAY NO’. A mesmerising record, the track sits between sultry R’n’B and avant-garde electronica, although some might define it more as experimental. From a holistic perspective, yes, it is pretty experimental. Not a record for everyone, the keen and brave listener will find immense value in Tilda’s latest effort. Exploring Japanese philosophy IKIGAI, ‘SAY NO’ seeks to explore the complex relationship between emotional awareness and life’s motivation.
As the Swedish talent explains: “I have been massively inspired by the teachings of IKIGAI and its ethos has helped me change. IKIGAI became part of my healing journey and my way into finding spirituality and the power of now. It changed me and I hope my music can act as a way to break your heart open. If my pain could become medicine to help someone else then my job is done.”
Of course, all of the above would be meaningless without the final piece of the puzzle: Allie’s celestial and sublime vocals, effortlessly driving the song forward with their evocative character and tenacious intentions. Her spoken words mid-track are an absolute treat. Overall, we are extremely impressed by Tilda Allie. She’s an artist that knows where she’s going and what she is about. We appreciate.
