So, we have this record and it’s pretty good, but we cannot tell you who’s behind it. Other than the project’s obscure name – Oreaganomics – everything else is seemingly secret. Interestingly, that’s not the first time it’s happened to us, although on this occasion we can certainly provide some more context. We are told they are wanted internationally; “one wanted for talking out about oligarchs and another gave access to Netflix in countries where it’s illegal”. It’s an eclectic, humorous rap sheet, one that won’t stop us from delving into the pair’s intricate artistry.
‘Everything is Legal’ is the track that brings Oreaganomics to our attention. It’s a quirky, unique piece. Built on lo-fi electronica and indie, poppy influences, the record layers cryptic lyrics and vocals over a fancy, simple arrangement, leaving the listeners quite hypnotised and curious.
‘Everything is legal’ is taken from the group’s wider album ‘And Introducing…..shane!!’, containing ten imaginative, prophetic episodes. Clarifying the ethos behind the single, Oreaganomics explain: “We are gonna say our piece. We understand if it’s bad for your business. But look, what are we working and paying taxes for? We’re not being represented by most and stepped on constantly.”
