Ear Candy Returns With Emotional Defiance In ‘Lonely’

We have been following ear candy’s journey from the beginning. Debuting earlier this year with ‘Over You’, the British artist has slowly been building quite the fanbase, reaching over 80.000 streams on Spotify alone with his subsequent single ‘Take My Dreams Away’. Well, it’s not hard to understand why he was able to rally listeners around the project: boasting a fashionable indie-pop sound, ear candy’s music could be defined as a charming blend of dream pop and early 00s indie-rock, while sharing pop lyricism and friendly melodies.

You can expect lots of riffing guitars, groovy drumbeats, and luscious, potentially detuned synthesisers, all consolidating the perfect sonic universe in which the English talent’s dynamic vocals can thrive. His latest effort, released earlier this month, takes the shape of ‘Lonely’, a three-minute anthem against people that don’t really love you, but stay with you anyway because they don’t fancy being alone. This heartfelt, honest call for emotional freedom is aided by an instrumental that pushes its pop side forward, moving at a very fast pace.

Describing the theme behind the track, ear candy describes: “Lonely was a track I wrote one day after just stupidly reminiscing about the people who loved to use me in the past just when they had no one else. I would resist but ultimately cave ‘cos we’re all lonely in one way or another”.

I think we can relate one way or the other. Let’s get into it then: stream ‘Lonely’ on Spotify:
