As a self-confessed songwriting addict, Australian-based singer/songwriter Amanda Emblem explores her world using music as a guide. In 2017, after the disintegration of her band, Amanda set about assembling a stellar lineup of musicians, and with that, The Amanda Emblem Experiment was born!
‘Farmtime’ is the band’s brand new EP, released just two days ago! I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek at the record before its release, and what I discovered was five unbelievably beautiful tunes varied and wide-ranging in nature. From 90s rock to blues and modern acoustic guitar pop, the EP has a little something for everyone, starting with the upbeat and addictive opener ‘Waterfall’.
Things then get taken down a notch with the mellow and swayful ‘Of Course I Do’, before the driving and rocky ‘Middle of the Night’ makes its introduction. ‘General Consensus’ follows in a similarly gritty and rugged vein, leading up to the EP’s exceptional closer ‘Aphrodisia’.
Five tracks that wonderfully showcase Amanda’s evolving and eclectic musical taste, ‘Farmtime’ is hands down one of my favourite EPs of the year. Honest, authentic, and bursting with creative energy, there’s just nothing to not love about it!
