I mentioned last year that Leicester-based act 9 o’clock Nasty is a band that keeps listeners on their toes. One’s never sure what to expect with each new release, but there’s always a promise of something interesting and exciting! With this in mind, please welcome ‘Smash Grab and Go!’, the act’s brand new single!
True to form, ‘Smash Grab and Go!’ is a song unlike any I’ve heard for quite some time. It’s raw and gritty, high-charged and exhilarating. It’s short too – running a little over two minutes – and feels more like a triple shot of espresso than a track. Strap in!
“We made a song that sounds exactly like the adrenaline rush when you realise that life
will never be the same again,” said the members. “The moment of falling when fear is replaced by action”.
I’m not entirely sure what it is that keeps on drawing me back to 9 o’clock Nasty. Their experimental nature and inventiveness definitely have something to do with it, but there’s something indescribably magnetic about their sound that always leaves me wanting more. With a brand new album set for release later this year, I anticipate further praise in their direction very soon!
