It took us a while to fully appreciate the artistic magnitude contained in ‘Holy Flames’. Drenched in obscure and crepuscular textures, the track is evocative and solemn, grabbing the listeners by the jacket and transporting them into NOX’s thrilling musical universe. It’s a journey worth taking: amidst gloomy and cloudy electronica, the London-based songstress delivers empowering and forward-thinking lyricism, exploring themes of obsession, lust and attraction.
Finding its perfect home at the intersection between bold electro-pop and cinematic soundtracks, ‘Holy Flames’ further rejoices from NOX’s anthemic, luscious vocal tone, often encased into a thousand harmonies which greatly add to the majestic nature of the record. Of Turkish roots, the young creative champions a proud queer aura, supercharging the project into being able to decode contemporary culture – perhaps even pushing it forward.
Co-written with FHUR and produced by Raven Alexander, ‘Holy Flames’ is simply a fantastic record. Everything is on point: from the relatable, catchy songwriting style to the ever-evolving and sharp production. If we were to guess, we’d say NOX has a bright future ahead. We’ll be here supporting her!
