Down South Pepper Band are back at it! Hailing from Norway, the talented duo boasts a big passion for Country and Americana stylings, so much so that they follow tradition rather meticulously. That’s what makes them fun to discover! You might think to be dealing with a couple of dudes from Texas or Tennessee… instead, they hail from Scandinavia, a land that – to be fair – has historically been pretty passionate about Country and neighbouring genres.
‘Hand In My Pocket’ is the pair’s latest effort. Built over a simple yet effective snare-powered drum groove and a blend of acoustic and electric guitar, the track is charmingly retro and meaningful, perhaps hinting at the rockabilly’s landscape as well, among other influences. Rune Nyby and Per Øyvind Mathisen do a good job of their artistic mission, especially when it comes to their deep, evocative vocals, very manly and authoritative.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Hand In My Pocket’, they explain: “This is a song about problems and issues that come with money. Everyone wants a share, either they steal, fraud or give you a fine. Or maybe it’s just the money that makes you paranoid so you think everyone is hunting for a share”.
