We call ourselves Mesmerized for a reason. We do like to be surprised, hypnotised, we appreciate when the sonic charge of a record is so intense that takes us into introspective and reflective territories. After all, art is supposed to get a reaction from the user. Words and Sound does exactly that, composing a dreamy and ethereal piece that works wonders in providing a slice of escapism and nostalgia-filled reflection.
Emerging from the US, Trevor Keith – the human behind the project – pens an evocative jewel, one of those tracks that might not be for everyone, but that are sure to enlighten your listening experience. Built over repetitive digital electronic tones, ‘Yellow’ develops at a slow pace, giving us time to fully absorb every texture, every frequency. Over time, misty spoken words and a hazy, intimate drum part join the sonic picture, creating a wonderful maze of soundscapes that are bound to deeply connect with the listeners.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the piece, Words and Sound explain: “This is a release about my grandma. She passed away last year and she was a very special person. My intentions were to capture her spirit and character within the song. And the end of the song represents how it feels without her.”
