Blending the cheeky charm of The Kinks, the timeless melodies of The Beatles, and the punchy energy of Big Star, ‘Sunny Sunshine Song’ is a nostalgia-laced gem that I’ve fallen completely in love with.
“The song is about being tired of hearing everyone complaining about everything all the time,” says the band. “It’s about being nostalgic for a time when we were excited about what the future might bring”. A sadly all too familiar feeling these days, Pearly Gates has wrapped up that universal sense of yearning in a shimmering anthem that captures the spirit of simpler, brighter days.
Formed in 2020 out of boredom during the pandemic lockdowns, Pearly Gates has blossomed into one of those rare acts that can channel the past while still feeling completely relevant and forward-thinking.
